Casey Stoner says he has changed his approach to helping MotoGP riders after feeling that his contributions have not been properly appreciated. Although retired since 2012, the two-time world champion has spent recent years advising several riders, including Francesco Bagnaia, by sharing his experience at the highest level of the sport.
The Australian recently attended World Ducati Week as part of Ducati’s centenary celebrations, where Bagnaia publicly thanked him for the guidance he had received over the past few seasons. Despite that recognition, Stoner admitted previous experiences left him unwilling to continue offering his expertise without a clear purpose.
“I won’t give away my knowledge for nothing anymore,” Stoner told GPOne during the Goodwood Festival of Speed. He said he had helped too many people in the past only to be forgotten once they had gained what they needed, adding that he has no intention of repeating that mistake.
